Flexi-Shelta
J.T. Inglis have also applied to agriculture their wide experience in producing tensile structures. Proven for use by some of the leading U.K. producers the versatility of the Flexi-Shelta livestock range extends their use to lambing, over- wintering ewes and rearing calves. They also cover a range of poultry, from geese to free range chickens and turkeys.
The Flexi-Shelta offers producers the opportunity to house animals in stress- free, consumer acceptable housing , without loss of performance or increased capital cost. A balance between environmental and profitable management practices.
The Flexi-Shelta fabric is an exclusive development of Regentex specifically developed for use in the manufacture of the Flexi-Shelta System. Its exacting standards for strength, durability, an ability to breathe provide a healthy, condensation free atmosphere which, whilst remaining water-resistant are the key factors in the provision of a stress-free environment.
The performance, health and economic viability of the Flexi-Shelta have been extensively tested on farms and in trials with the Scottish Agricultural College Aberdeen. The result of this work confirmed the following benefits when comparing animals housed in a Flexi-Shelta compared to animals in traditional housing.
- Healthier Animals were seen
- Animals housed in Flexi-sheltas are healthier and less prone to disease, leading to greater growth and lower overall medication costs.
- Lower Mortality figures were achieved
- Therefore financial losses were reduced.
- Greater Conformity:-
- Groups housed in the Flexi-Shelta were more even, making overall management easier.
- Flexibilty
- The modular system enables greater flexibilty in the location of animals of the farm.
- Cost Benefits
- The capital cost per animal when using the Flexishelta may be up to 60% lower than traditional accommodation. Due to the expected life of the materials used, it is one of the lowest cost flexible housing systems

The Flexi-Shelta is easy to erect and can be constructed in less than half a day by farm labour using readily available straw bales. The modular frame is strong yet manageable and readily built or dismantled if a move to a new site is required.
